Competition is gaining fruits for consumers.  Right after Barnes and Noble announces its  Nook e-Book Reader, here comes Amazon announcing that the price of its Kindle International version has been reduced from $279 to $259. That’s actually the introductory price of B&N’s Nook.So for those who had paid $279 for the Kindle International, Amazon is refunding you $20.  And Amazon’s reason for lowering the price? Here’s the email sent to those who already bought the Amazon Kindle International version:

Good news! Due to strong customer demand for our newest Kindle with U.S. and international wireless, we are consolidating our family of 6″ Kindles. As part of this consolidation, we are lowering the price of the Kindle you just purchased from $279 down to $259. You don’t need to do anything to get the lower price–we are automatically issuing you a $20 refund. This refund should be processed in the next few days and will appear as a credit on your next billing statement.
