Ebook Reader Shipment in 2010 to Reach More than 10 Million
With the current trend in the ebook reader market, it is not surprising that those involved in the manufacturing of these devices would be in the position to project either an increase or decrease in shipment.
AU Optronics (AUO) for one has predicted that ebook reader shipment for 2010 will reach more than 10 million units, as opposed to their previous projection of around 6-7 million units. For their panel shipments, AUO predicts is aiming for around 1-2 million units. Their are projecting though that their monthly shipments of panels will reach around 100,000-200,000 units in 2010.
CT Liu, senior VP of AUO predicts that ebook readers will be able to penetrate the market more in 2010 due to the availability of ebook contents. Likewise, the function of ebook readers are also expected to improve – including faster response time, touchscreen and user-friendly interface.
