If there’s one company who should know when a price decrease is going to happen for ereaders, it has to be the company which manufacture one of the most important component of ereaders – epd panel makers.

Scott Liu, chairman of EPD maker Prime View International commented that it is very unlikely that e-book reader prices will drop next year, just when the market is just starting to take off in 2010.  Prices of ereaders will definitely go down to as low as $100.

This is despite the fact that the costs of EPD panels is going down. PVI has not reduced the prices of their ereader panels so if ereader makers will like to offer more affordable ereaders they will have to do so at the expense of not making too much money from it.

The only way these ereader manufacturers can have more profit is by selling ebooks. So, it seems that a dedicated ebook store is definitely a must for ereader makers.
