Taiwanese Prepares for eReader Market Expansion

Those who still refuse to believe that 2010 is going to be the year of ereaders, here’s probably another proof.  Some Taiwanese manufacturers have elicit the help of Chinese e-book manufacturers to boost their ereader production to as much NT$100 billion by 2013.

Both Taiwanese and Chinese manufacturers are now gearing up to tap into the global e-book market, possibly to go up against U.S. leaders such as Amazon and Sony.

The Taiwanese government is set to go on the table with China to discuss the development of a common e-book standard as well.

Taiwanese manufacturers know that future ereaders would evolve into a multi-purpose device capable of cloud computing, personal computing as well as support for the content and telecommunications industries.

The report also mentioned about Asustek and AU Optronics as having the capability to produce e-book browers. While Asustek has already signed up an investment agreement with U.S. e-paper manufacturer.
