Plastic Logic Officially Launches the Que e-Reader, Expensive Kindle Rival

For quite some time now, Plastic Logic has been prepping up its “penultimate” e-book reader. And so it is but fitting that the company announce it now at CES 2010. While we may have heard already that the QUE Reader is a revolutionary, innovative and high-end device, what struck us most about the announcement is the fact that the QUE E-Reader will be priced quite expensively – $800, for the initial version alone.

Now, how can it compete with a relatively cheaper Kindle, Nook or Sony PRS Reader?

According to Plastic Logic, the QUE Reader is geared more for the business users, branding it even as a “paperless briefcase.”  What’s the big fuzz then? The QUE Reader will not only let you read ebooks and electronic newspapers but also work on your Microsoft documents through its touchscreen, e-ink display. The QUE Reader will also seamlessly work with BlackBerry devices.

Question is, can you not do those features on a regular netbook already? The only difference being the QUE Reader having no keyboard.

I don’t know whether QUE will gain traction especially since there are alternatives available and will be available that offers the same features as QUE which happens to be an e-book device after all.

Plastic Logic is accepting orders for the QUE Reader now with a promise of April 2010 shipment.
